Ann Tudor

on the way to being a writer

Home: Welcome
Piles of Books

I started writing short stories a few years ago and loved it. I enjoy learning too and decided to enrol on courses to help me develop my skills and give me some tips and strategies. Initially I went on the three levels of the 'Writing Fiction' courses run by Oxford University's Continuing Education Department. These provided me with an excellent start but also made me aware how much more I needed to learn. I have moved onto the the Diploma in Creative Writing at Oxford and will graduate this summer. I now feel comfortable writing poetry and have plans for two novels which I have begun to develop. But short fiction is still my first choice. I love the trickiness of constructing plots and characters in a restricted word count. The need to focus on the message and absolutes.

The need to twist and turn along the way.

The need to leave a tale to hang.
